About Us -Overview
Transforming Rural Maharashtra Since 1991
Our Journey
Sadhana Shikshan Mandal (SSM) was founded in 1991 by Sharad Shinde, an Electronics Engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology (1985). Despite opportunities to work with multinational companies like his peers, Sharad chose a different path—one of service and community transformation.
As a former trustee of the renowned Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan in Shegaon (known nationwide for discipline, charity, and integrity), Sharad witnessed the urgent need for affordable education and holistic development in rural Maharashtra. This experience shaped SSM's mission: to create self-reliant communities through education, skills, sustainable livelihoods, and values-based development.
For over three decades, SSM has remained committed to this vision, working at the grassroots level in Western Maharashtra's most underserved areas. We don't just run programs—we build partnerships with communities, understanding their unique challenges and co-creating sustainable solutions.

Our Values
The Principles That Guide Our Work
Affordability & Accessibility
Development shouldn't be a privilege. Our initiatives are structured to ensure universal access for the most marginalized families.
Dignity & Respect
We treat every beneficiary as a partner in development, not as a recipient of charity.
Excellence with Integrity
We are committed to uncompromising standards of quality and ethical conduct in every action and outcome.
Innovation with Tradition
We embrace modern methods while respecting cultural values and traditional wisdom.
Collaboration Over Competition
We partner with other NGOs, government agencies, and corporates because collective impact matters more than individual credit.
Our Commitment
to Excellence
We continuously improve our programs, measure our impact, and adapt to evolving community needs.
Our Approach
How We Create Sustainable Impact
Community-Centric Development
We don't impose solutions. We listen, learn, and co-design programs with the communities we serve.
Holistic Empowerment
Education alone isn't enough. We address livelihoods, health, environment, and values simultaneously.
Sustainability Over Dependency
Our goal isn't to create beneficiaries who depend on us—it's to create self-reliant individuals who uplift others.
Transparency & Accountability
Every rupee is tracked. Every impact is measured. Every partner receives detailed reports.
Rooted in Values
We carry forward a legacy of discipline, honesty, and service in everything we do.
Founder & Team
Our Founder & Chairman
Hon. Shri Sharad Shinde
At Sadhana Shikshan Mandal, our journey has always been guided by a simple but powerful belief, that true development begins when communities are empowered to shape their own futures. Working closely with rural communities in and around Shegaon and the Buldhana region, we have witnessed how challenges in education, agriculture, health, women’s participation, and youth opportunities are deeply interconnected.
Addressing them in isolation offers only temporary relief. Our vision, therefore, is to build an integrated ecosystem of education, innovation, health, and sustainable livelihoods that enables long-term self-reliance. Our initiatives across education, women empowerment, entrepreneurship, sustainable farming, health support, and sports development are designed not merely as welfare interventions, but as capacity-building platforms.
By combining grassroots understanding with technology-driven solutions and strong partnerships, we aim to create impact that is measurable, scalable, and enduring. We take pride in our values of discipline, transparency, and service, inspired by our institutional roots and reinforced through collaborations with government agencies, academic institutions, and responsible corporate partners.
"I extend my sincere gratitude to our community members, partners, volunteers, and well-wishers who continue to walk this journey with us. Together, we are not just responding to challenges; we are building pathways to opportunity and dignity for future generations."
Our Secretary
Hon. Mrs. Sadhana Sharad Shinde
At the core of Sadhana Shikshan Mandal's mission is a commitment to purposeful execution and rigorous accountability. While vision provides direction, it is our disciplined implementation that translates intent into tangible progress. Our approach prioritizes structured programs, measurable outcomes, and robust governance across key domains: Agri-tech, Health-tech, Food-tech, and Edu-tech.
Each initiative is tailored to local contexts while aligning with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals. From skill development and women-led enterprise to climate-smart agriculture and preventive health, we deliver solutions that are practical, scalable, and sustainable. We believe transformative change requires collaboration and systemic thinking.
Through partnerships with district administrations, academic institutions, research bodies, and CSR leaders, we ensure our programs are evidence-based, compliant, and replicable. Transparency, data-driven monitoring, and continuous improvement remain central to our operational ethos. As Secretary, my focus is on strengthening institutional processes, deepening partnerships, and enhancing impact measurement.
"We move forward with clarity and conviction, building a future where rural communities thrive with self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable opportunity."

With the guidance and mentorship of Monali Madam and Dr. Santosh Bothe, and the continuous support of SSM’s Women Empowerment Program, they learned how to process soya into nutritious soya paneer right from their homes.
Starting with minimal resources, they partnered with a local vegetable vendor who helped them reach nearby households and village markets. Through persistence and teamwork, they gradually turned their home-based venture into a reliable source of income. Today, these women earn enough to support their families with dignity.
